A second version of Intel’s Core i7 processor is reportedly in the works for the next-generation Surface Pro 4, a new Windows 8.1 operating system.
The company is launching a new line of notebooks called Core i5-6200U laptops in the first half of next year.
A new version of the Microsoft Office app is also being rolled out to Surface Pros in the coming weeks.
Microsoft is also rolling out Windows 8 to Surface Pro 5 and Surface Pro 6 laptops.
In a blog post, Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Terry Myerson said the company is making “significant investments” in Surface Pro and Surface Hub in order to “provide a seamless experience across all devices.”
The new Surface Pro series is expected to be the first product with both Surface Pro family and the Surface Pro 3, according to a source.
The new Pro devices include Surface Pro, Surface Pro 7, Surface Book and Surface Book 2.
The new Intel Surface Pros include a 10.5-inch 1080p display, Intel Core i3 processor, 1TB hard drive and a 16GB Intel SSD.
The Surface Pro lineup is expected with a new Intel Core m5-based Intel processor and a 1TB SSD.
